CTF-IED Terms of Service

Last updated: [date set by the platform]. The effective date of these Terms is displayed at the top of this page by CTF-IED and applies to the version you are reading.

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are a legal agreement between you and CTF-IED, an online cybersecurity and AI learning platform operated from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, accessible at ctf-ied.com (the "Platform").

This document is a general template written in plain language to help you understand your rights and obligations. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified lawyer. If any provision here conflicts with mandatory rights granted to you by applicable law, that law prevails to the extent of the conflict.

By creating an account, accessing, or using the Platform in any way, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not create an account and must not use the Platform.

If you are using the Platform on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind that organization to these Terms.

CTF-IED is a bilingual (English and Arabic) online learning platform for cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. It combines structured lessons with hands-on practice.

Learning is organized into four tracks: penetration testing (offensive security), SOC / blue-team (defensive security and monitoring), AI / machine learning, and IT administration.

Hands-on labs run inside isolated, sandboxed, time-limited containers that are provided and controlled by the Platform. These labs exist solely so you can practice offensive and defensive security techniques safely, for educational purposes.

We may add, change, suspend, or remove tracks, lessons, labs, or other features at any time in order to improve the Platform or for operational, legal, or security reasons.

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Platform on your own.

If you are between 13 and 16 (or the minimum digital-consent age in your country), you may use the Platform only with the verifiable consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use.

You must be legally capable of entering into a binding contract and must not be barred from using the Platform under the laws of Jordan or your country of residence.

We may ask you to confirm your age or eligibility at any time, and we may suspend accounts that we reasonably believe do not meet these requirements.

To access most features you must create an account. We store your email address, display name, a securely hashed version of your password, your learning progress, and your coin balance. We never store your password in plain text.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account. Do not share your account with others.

We strongly recommend enabling two-factor authentication (2FA), which the Platform supports, to protect your account.

You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date. Notify us at [email protected] immediately if you suspect any unauthorized access to your account.

You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Deleting your account erases your associated personal data as described in our Privacy Policy, subject to any records we are legally required to retain.

This is the most important section of these Terms. CTF-IED teaches real offensive and defensive security techniques strictly for education. By using the Platform you make a binding commitment to use what you learn only lawfully and ethically.

You agree that any offensive or hacking technique demonstrated on the Platform may be used ONLY in the following places:

• Inside the Platform's own sandboxed, isolated lab containers; or

• Against systems, networks, applications, or accounts that you personally own, or that you have explicit, written, and current authorization to test.

You expressly agree that you will NOT:

• Use anything learned here to access, attack, disrupt, scan, or exploit any real system, network, device, data, or account without proper authorization;

• Attack, target, or attempt to harm other CTF-IED users, their accounts, or their lab environments;

• Attack, probe, reverse-engineer, overload, circumvent, or attempt to escape the sandbox of CTF-IED's own infrastructure, labs, containers, or hosting environment, except to the limited extent expressly permitted within a specific lab's instructions;

• Use the Platform to develop, host, distribute, or command malware, botnets, or attack infrastructure aimed at third parties;

• Share, resell, or publish lab solutions, exploit code, or credentials in a way that facilitates real-world attacks.

You must comply with all applicable laws, including the cybercrime, computer-misuse, and data-protection laws of Jordan and of any country whose systems or data may be affected by your actions.

Unauthorized hacking is a serious crime. You are solely responsible for your own conduct outside the sandboxed labs. Violating this section is grounds for immediate suspension or termination, and we may report unlawful activity to the relevant authorities and cooperate with law-enforcement investigations.

"Coins" are a virtual, in-platform credit. You can earn coins by solving labs and completing challenges, or you can purchase them.

Coins have no cash value. They are not money, not a bank deposit, and not a stored-value or payment instrument. They cannot be redeemed, cashed out, transferred to other users, or exchanged for real currency, and they exist only for use inside the Platform.

We may adjust coin pricing, earning rates, and what coins can be used for, and we may expire unused coins after a reasonable period, with notice where required by law.

The Platform offers three auto-renewing monthly subscription tiers: VIP ($7 per month), VIP+ ($13 per month), and VIP Master ($20 per month). Each tier unlocks a different set of features, as described on the pricing page.

Subscriptions renew automatically every month and your chosen payment method is charged for each renewal period until you cancel. Prices are stated exclusive of any applicable sales tax or VAT, which is added at checkout by the Merchant of Record (see Section 8).

You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or through the billing portal provided by our payment processor. Cancellation stops future renewals; it takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period, and you keep access to your tier until that period ends.

Unless required by law or stated otherwise, we do not provide partial or pro-rated refunds for the unused portion of a billing period after cancellation.

All payments for coins and subscriptions are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our payment provider, which acts as the Merchant of Record (the seller of record) for these purchases.

This means Lemon Squeezy is the party that sells the digital products to you, processes your card or other payment, and is responsible for collecting and remitting any applicable sales tax or VAT.

Your payment is also subject to Lemon Squeezy's own terms and privacy policy in addition to these Terms.

CTF-IED never sees, handles, or stores your full card number or other sensitive payment details. That information goes directly to the payment processor.

You are responsible for providing valid, up-to-date payment information and for any bank, card, or currency-conversion fees your provider may charge.

Because coins and subscriptions provide immediate access to digital content and lab environments, purchases are generally non-refundable once access has been granted, except where a refund is required by applicable law.

Refund requests are handled by Lemon Squeezy as the Merchant of Record, in line with its refund policy. You can start a refund request by contacting us at [email protected] or through the Lemon Squeezy receipt you received by email.

We may, at our discretion, approve refunds in cases such as duplicate charges, clear billing errors, or a documented technical failure that prevented you from using what you paid for.

Any mandatory withdrawal or cooling-off rights you have under the law of your country are not affected by this section.

The Platform and all of its content - including lessons, lab designs and environments, challenges, text, graphics, logos, the CTF-IED name and brand, software, and the compilation of all of it - are owned by CTF-IED or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws.

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Platform and its content for your own learning.

You may not copy, reproduce, resell, republish, distribute, scrape, or create derivative works from Platform content, or use it to build a competing product, without our prior written permission.

Third-party tools, open-source software, and trademarks used within the labs remain the property of their respective owners and are used under their own licenses.

You may be able to submit content, such as a display name, lab write-ups, comments, or feedback ("User Content"). You remain responsible for your User Content and confirm you have the right to share it.

You must not post User Content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit involving minors, or that shares real-world exploits, stolen data, or credentials intended to facilitate actual attacks.

By submitting User Content, you grant CTF-IED a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and use it as needed to operate and improve the Platform. You keep ownership of your User Content.

We may review, moderate, or remove User Content that we reasonably believe violates these Terms, but we are not obligated to monitor all content.

The Platform is provided for educational purposes only. Its content, lessons, and labs are intended to teach cybersecurity and AI skills, not to encourage or enable unlawful activity in the real world.

Completing courses, earning coins, or reaching a subscription tier is not a professional certification, accreditation, or guarantee of employment, exam results, or any particular outcome.

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that labs will always be available, and we are not responsible for outcomes that result from how you apply the skills you learn.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CTF-IED and its owners, staff, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Platform.

In particular, we are not liable for any consequences - including legal, financial, or reputational harm - that result from you using techniques learned on the Platform outside the sandboxed labs or against systems you are not authorized to test.

To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims relating to the Platform is limited to the greater of the amount you paid to us (or to Lemon Squeezy for CTF-IED products) in the three (3) months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 50.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

You may stop using the Platform at any time and may delete your account from your account settings.

We may suspend or terminate your account or access, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms - especially the Acceptable Use section - if required by law, or to protect the Platform, other users, or third parties.

For serious violations, such as attempting to attack our infrastructure, other users, or unauthorized real-world systems, we may suspend or terminate immediately and report the conduct to the authorities.

On termination, your license to use the Platform ends and access to paid features stops. Sections that by their nature should survive - including Acceptable Use, Intellectual Property, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, and Governing Law - continue to apply.

We may update these Terms from time to time - for example, to reflect new features, legal requirements, or changes to our pricing or payment providers.

When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and take reasonable steps to notify you, such as an in-Platform notice or an email.

Your continued use of the Platform after the updated Terms take effect means you accept the changes. If you do not agree, you should stop using the Platform and may delete your account.

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Platform are governed by the laws of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

The competent courts of Amman, Jordan, will have jurisdiction over any dispute, unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence grants you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.

We will do our best to respond within a reasonable time.

These clauses apply to paid live courses and individual live sessions ("Sessions") booked through CTF-IED, in addition to the general Terms above. Where they conflict, these course clauses govern the course purchase.

Your seat is confirmed only once payment completes through our Merchant of Record (Lemon Squeezy). Access is personal and non-transferable: you may not share your account, seat, session links, or recordings.

Your refund is based on how many Sessions you have accessed — where "accessed" means attending a Session live or viewing its recording.

Before you have accessed 50% of the Sessions in your purchase, you may request a refund of the pro-rata value of the Sessions you have not yet accessed. Example: a 20-session course where you have accessed 6 Sessions (30%) is refunded 14/20 of the price.

Once you have accessed 50% or more of the Sessions in your purchase, the purchase is non-refundable.

For a module or single-session purchase, the same rule applies pro-rated across the Sessions in that purchase.

These limits do not remove any mandatory refund or withdrawal rights the law gives you as a consumer; where the law grants you more, the law applies.

The instructor may reschedule, delay, shorten, or cancel any Session where circumstances require, including illness, technical failure, force majeure, or operational need.

A Session may be delayed by up to one (1) week without entitling you to a refund; we will notify you of the new time.

If a Session is delayed more than one (1) week and no replacement Session is offered within that period, you may request a pro-rata refund for that Session.

Sessions target up to 120 minutes, but a Session is complete when its material has been delivered. The instructor may end a Session before the 120-minute mark at their discretion; this does not entitle you to a refund.

CTF-IED provides instruction, materials, and lab access. We do not guarantee any specific learning outcome, skill level, certification, exam result, or employment.

You are responsible for your own learning, practice, and results. A student who does not achieve a desired outcome has no claim against CTF-IED or the instructor on that basis.

The techniques and tools taught are for authorized, ethical, and lawful security testing only — on systems you own or have explicit written permission to test.

You are solely responsible for how you use what you learn. Any unlawful use is your responsibility alone, will result in immediate removal without refund, and may be reported to the authorities.

Lab environments are for the exercises provided. You may not attack CTF-IED infrastructure outside designated labs, disrupt other students, or interfere with any Session. We may remove any student for abusive, disruptive, or unlawful conduct; removal for cause is without refund.

All course materials, labs, and recordings are the property of CTF-IED. You receive a personal, non-transferable licence for your own learning; you may not record, copy, resell, publish, or redistribute them.

The service is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, CTF-IED's total liability arising from a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for it, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

We may update these terms; the version and date shown at checkout is the version you agree to. These course terms are governed by the law of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the courts of Amman have jurisdiction.
